Denture Implants in Palm Harbor

Posted on March 9, 2018

implant dentures Palm Harbor

As dental technology continues to evolve, so do solutions to bothersome issues. And in Palm Harbor, denture implants are now a viable replacement for old-fashioned dentures.

Denture implants are anchored to your jawbone. They are secure enough to allow the wearer to bite into an apple, chew a thick steak, or share a hearty laugh without a second thought.

If you are missing a single tooth, many teeth, or all of your teeth, implants may be the answer you’ve been looking for. We invite you to learn more about this innovative procedure.

Implants can anchor either removable or fixed dentures. Due to the way each tooth space is correctly fitted with a beautiful restoration, implants fit better than traditional dentures. Dentures anchored with implant posts are comfortable, functional, and pleasing.

At Prestige Dentistry, we focus our efforts on complete patient satisfaction. Each member of our team is enthusiastic about providing each patient with personal attention and the highest standard of care. Our patients enjoy our laid-back atmosphere, while benefitting from our cutting-edge technology and experience.

To learn more about denture implants or any of the other procedures we offer, call Prestige Dentistry in Palm Harbor and Trinity for an appointment.

Help! My Crown Came Off!

Posted on February 23, 2018

repair broken dental crown Palm Harbor

You are chewing an apple and hear a strange sound, then something in your mouth feels wrong. One of your crowns has popped free. Chances are, the crown (which cost you hundreds of dollars) can be re-cemented.

What do you do when your dental crown comes off? It’s essential that you take the following steps:

Don’t Swallow It!
This may seem like a no-brainer, but we are mentioning it because it is crucial. Carefully take it out of your mouth. If you accidentally swallow it, you will have some extra troubles that aren’t pleasant.

Look Carefully
Inspect the crown and your tooth. If there is damage to either, your Prestige Dentistry doctor will need that information. Which brings me to number 3:

Call Prestige Dentistry
We will schedule you an appointment immediately and advise you on whether you should use temporary cement to re-attach the crown until you can get into Prestige Dentistry and have it permanently re-cemented.

Clean Gently
Use a toothbrush to closely clean the crown and the unprotected partial tooth.

Handle With Care
While waiting for the crown to be re-cemented, skip substances that are chewy, sticky, or crunchy.

Debunking Dental Myths

Posted on February 16, 2018

Clearwater cosmetic dental and tooth implants

Today’s Prestige Dentistry blog post focuses on three dental-related myths prevalent in the Trinity area.

All Sugar Is Equally Bad For Teeth
We all know that sugar increases our risk of tooth decay, but some types are worse than others. Sugar-based foods that sit on the teeth are more dangerous than those that are swallowed immediately. For example, sipping a soda or sucking on a mint can be worse than eating a candy bar all at once.

You Don’t Need To Worry About Baby Teeth Because They Will Fall Out Anyway
Healthy primary teeth serve several important purposes. They allow the child to eat and speak properly. They retain proper spacing of teeth. A healthy smile instills confidence and self-esteem. Healthy baby teeth eliminate the pain of decay which disrupts normal daily activity.

Pulling A Tooth Is Just As Good As A Root Canal
We will let the American Associate of Endodontists explain this one:
Saving your natural teeth, if possible, is the very best option. Nothing can completely replace your natural tooth. An artificial tooth can sometimes cause you to avoid certain foods. Keeping your own teeth is important so that you can continue to enjoy the wide variety of foods necessary to maintain the proper nutrient balance in your diet. Endodontic treatment, along with appropriate restoration, is a cost-effective way to treat teeth with damaged pulp and is usually less expensive than extraction and placement of a bridge or an implant. Endodontic treatment also has a very high success rate. Many root canal-treated teeth last a lifetime.1

At Prestige Dentistry, we provide accurate answers to all of your dental questions.

If you are interested in dental implants, invisible braces or endodontics, call us today to schedule an appointment.

5 Reasons To See Prestige Dentistry

Posted on February 9, 2018

top dentist Trinity

When we are young, we feel invincible. We think we will live forever, and we know more than our parents. As we age, we soon discover that invincibility fades, forever isn’t as long as we thought, and we begin to appreciate the collective wisdom of those who have gone before us.

Since you have probably discovered by now that your teeth are not invincible, today’s post offers some important advice about your oral health. Developing a relationship with a skilled, experienced, and friendly family dentist is vital for maintaining healthy smiles for every member of the family. Here are 5 reasons to make Prestige Dentistry your partner in oral health.

Visit Prestige Dentistry For the Truth.
Visiting the dentist regularly is one of the wisest moves a parent can make for their child. A child’s oral health is a journey of guiding and correcting. Healthy habits are formed over time. Perhaps last year it was about refraining from chewing ice, this year it’s about brushing at the base of the molars and next year it will be about flossing daily. Best to get the bad habits fixed right away. The same holds true for adults. Regular visits can correct a course that may eventually lead to pain, gum disease, damaged teeth, or complete tooth loss. Potential problems are best discovered sooner than later.

Visit Prestige Dentistry For the Atmosphere.
At Prestige Dentistry the dentist makes it a point to confirm your needs. Whether you have urgent concerns or just need a routine check up on the state of your oral health, Dr. Prestige Dentistry would like to be your first choice. We’ve got a staff second to none. We keep the atmosphere modern.

Visit Prestige Dentistry For the Discussion.
Prestige Dentistry delivers valuable assessment and discussion regarding cosmetic dentistry, general dentistry, and porcelain veneers. Prestige Dentistry provides fresh, clear details regarding your treatment. You can count on understanding care and unprecedented oral treatment. Call 727-478-0488 today to schedule an appointment.

Visit Prestige Dentistry For the Answers.

When you enter our doors at 4140 Woodlands Pkwy Ste A, Palm Harbor, Florida 34685, expect to get answers. What are the pros and cons of sedation dentistry or the advantages and disadvantages of braces and at what age are each appropriate? How much does it cost for endodontics? How much for fillings and crowns? How long does it take for restorative dentistry? Where does it hurt when dental implants is done? Who is a candidate for invisible braces? What are symptoms of teeth grinding?

Visit Us For Your Health!

Health is maintained through regular check ups, maintenance, and preventative measures. Enjoy continued health and vibrancy as a result of superior dental care, vigilant dental hygiene and healthy habits. Prestige Dentistry is pleased to offer strength, time and wisdom to our Clearwater and nearby Tarpon Springs neighbors. We will keep your smile invincible.

8 Things You Should Know About Your Baby’s Teeth

Posted on January 26, 2018

Palm Harbor pediatric dentistry

Life is hectic for new moms and dads and some function on very little sleep for several months. At Prestige Dentistry, we don’t want the first year to fly by in a blur without busy parents giving a thought to their baby’s teeth. Unfortunately “out of sight, out of mind” is often the case. It’s never too early for new Palm Harbor parents to construct a plan for their child’s lifelong oral health.

1. Before the first teeth appear, wash gums with a soft damp cloth or piece of gauze after feeding.

2. Prevent baby bottle tooth decay. Most new Palm Harbor parents are cautioned from the beginning not to put babies to bed with a bottle of milk or juice. However, since baby-bottle tooth decay is still fairly common, this warning bears repetition. Baby bottle tooth decay is entirely preventable. If your baby will not sleep without a bottle, use only water. Moms who breastfeed should understand that breast milk is just as effective at creating an environment for decay. If your child uses a pacifier, don’t dip it in sugar or honey.

3. Take your infant to the dentist early. That’s right – infant. Your child’s first dental exam should occur when the first teeth erupt, usually between six months and one year of age.

4. When your baby’s first tooth peeks through, begin brushing gently with a small, soft toothbrush and a grain of rice sized dot of fluoride toothpaste. This helps with keeping that tooth decay-free while allowing your baby to get comfortable with regular oral hygiene.

5. From the ages of 3 to 6, the amount of toothpaste can increase to a pea-sized dab. Most children swallow instead of spitting. You don’t want your child to swallow more than a tiny smear of toothpaste. While fluoride is critical, too much can be detrimental.

6. Consider dental sealants. Sealants guard the teeth and prevent cavities by filling in the cracks and fissures where food particles can hide, breeding dangerous bacteria that doesn’t take long to create cavities. Sealants are especially critical in the back teeth which, due to the abundance of crevasses, are hardest to clean properly. During your child’s first check-up at our Palm Harbor office, you can speak with Prestige Dentistry about sealants. Sealants aren’t usually applied until all of the teeth have come in, but it’s a good idea to seek a dentist’s advice at your first visit.

7. Talk to your dentist about pacifier use, thumb-sucking, or any other habits that affect teeth and jaw development.

8. Teach your toddler to drink from a cup as soon as possible. The fewest months your child uses a bottle, the better. Even if your child loves his bottle, you are going to have to take it away sooner or later.

At in Palm Harbor, we love our littlest patients. To make an appointment for your infant or toddler, call us today at 727-478-0488.

Stay Out Of The Dental Danger Zone

Posted on January 12, 2018

Stay Out Of The Trinity Dental Danger Zone

You would never consider running a red light on a busy Palm Harbor street or crossing over a lane of orange construction cones on the freeway, but you might be doing some everyday things that are dicey for your oral health.

I want to share with you some common habits that could be detrimental to the health of your teeth.

Crunching ice between your teeth might be refreshing, but it can be detrimental to the soft tissue inside your mouth. Once this tissue gets irritated, you’re more likely to get toothaches and have increased sensitivity to hot or cold foods.

Participating in your favorite sport without needed mouth protection is a risk that no one should take. If there is a chance that a mouth injury could take place (and there is with most sports) then get to the nearest sporting goods store and buy a mouth guard or, better yet, ask me about a custom mouthguard.

Using your teeth to open anything is a bad idea. Every time your teeth come in contact with foreign objects there is potential for chipping and cracking.

Now that you know how to avoid these risks, what can you do if you’ve already damaged your teeth from these activities or similar ones? Make an appointment with our modern staff and we’ll see how we can help.

If you’ve had chipping or cracking issues, there are a variety of cosmetic dentistry procedures that might help you. If you have overly-sensitive teeth, I may be able to prescribe a prescription toothpaste to reduce the pain.

We can also answer any questions you have about veneers, gum contouring, or teeth whitening in Palm Harbor. We hope to hear from you soon, but in the meantime, keep those pearly whites safe and sound.

Bridging The Gap

Posted on December 22, 2017

cosmetic dental Palm Harbor

Do you have a missing tooth? Let Prestige Dentistry fill the gap for you and help you get your dazzling smile back! A dental bridge could be the perfect solution for your missing tooth and help you chew and speak properly.

A bridge consists of two or more crowns on either side of the gap created by your missing tooth. These two anchoring teeth allow a false tooth to be held in place where the missing tooth should be. The false tooth that is placed in the gap is called a pontic. Bridges can contain one or more pontics. A pontic can be matched to the surrounding teeth if you elect a porcelain material. If you’d like, a pontic can also be created using gold or an alloy.

We will work closely with you to be certain that your bridge has a perfect fit. Then one of our experienced hygienists will show you how to clean under and around the bridge to ensure that no dental caries occurs in the nooks and crannies.

Come see us at Prestige Dentistry to bridge the gap and love your smile again!
